2020.1.8@Paragon ifc The second screening of a World War II classic. My favorite part is the Barcarolle. When played in the concentration camp, loud as it went, its beauty transcended the evil and the monstrosity happened in the camp. The piece was also reminiscent of Canzonetta sull'aria played by Shawshank.
4.5 - one-hour running time does not allow substantive narrative arc or characterisation, but the visual style and development are incredibly quirky, trippy and enjoyable. How the film depicted "procreation" is quite offbeat (and surrealist) but metaphysical, which I liked. And, French people do be obsessed with "la révolution" though xDDD
